My Talk at the LPMC Boston Meetup
I'm in Boston for the LNC meeting, which is still going on. The LPMA has been notoriously woke and a battleground state for the LPMC. Last night, I spoke at the Massachusetts LPMC meetup. Here's a rough draft of the talk I gave.
You cannot virtue signal your way to a freer world.
If anyone disagrees with that. I will ask them to show me the fruits of their labor.
The behavior of the LNC is a mirror of popular culture. It reflects back what's happening in the world.
The same phenomenon has happened at the CATO Institute and you can see how that's worked out for their principles. They have writers like Ilya Somin that advocate for vaccine mandates.
They emphasize open borders and free movement for people to come into the country but they have no regard for the free movement of the people who are already here.
Contrast that with the Mises Institute, who has held steadfast to their principles. They advocate for everyone's freedom.
We have to reject WOKE CAPITALISM. It’s a spineless ideology that nervously rings its hands and begs for approval.
These “private vaccine passport” folks are the kind of people who think they’ll be spared by the progressive totalitarian regime but they’ll really just be the last ones up against the wall.
You've got to be able to look them straight in the face, without any drama or fanfare and say, "Your way isn't achieving freedom by any measurable metric. It’s not gaining any momentum, it’s not gaining any cultural significance, it’s not making us freer, but the Mises Caucus way is."
We just listened to a ballot access committee report from a party that's struggling.
We've lost ballot access in NY. We're over halfway to ballot access in AL, work has to be done here in MA.
"Smash the duopoly" is not a strategy, it's not a good talking point, and it's definitely not a personality.
If we want to maintain ballot access in these states, we need to identify our target demographic, and meet the needs of the people who live here and who are receptive to us. We need to become a cultural force & we need to provide value.
That's what I'm doing in LA and that's what we should be doing around the country, whether we're in an electable area or not. Whether it’s initiatives, recalls, candidates, or lawsuits, You find a way to build political capital and you forge a path to freedom.
The low hanging fruit is to push back against mandates. This is easy and there's a built in target demographic for it.
I've got an anti mandate initiative going in LA. I'm about to kick one off in NYC. I've got a school board recall being planned in Whittier, CA, and all of these things are being used to funnel growth into the LP.
What I've learned over the past year, and what I've immersed myself in, is the importance of strategy. Strategy is grossly undervalued in the LP so we need to do 2 things related that: 1) We need to rely on strategy to out maneuver our haters, and 2) we need to cultivate political strategy within the party so that people learn how to grow, win elections, and make legislative gains instead of just spinning their wheels every 4 years for ballot access.
I want us to be so successful that there's no need for a ballot access committee anymore.
We've got to listen to the liberty-minded people in this country if we want to win their trust and support. Most of them are not triple jabbed, cosmopolitan, coastal elites. A lot of liberty-minded people are blue collar workers, or country people who want to preserve their way of life.
“Smash the duopoly” says nothing about our values. It doesn’t speak to the people who are worried about vaccine mandates and inflation.
“Abolish Mandates” speaks to our target demographic. “Stop Inflation” speaks to our people. “Smash the duopoly” is meaningless when you behave just like the two parties you’re criticizing.
I don't want to just “smash the duopoly”. I want to smash the entire thing, not just the two major parties. There is no official list of the number of federal agencies that exist. Dude, I hate the DNC and I hate the disgusting GOP apparatus that blocked Ron Paul from the presidency, but we need to do a better job of tailoring our messaging to the people who matter.
We need to have enough self esteem as a party that we forge our own political path and our own culture and personality.
We are doing that in the Mises Caucus.
I want to put something in perspective for you. We are on the cusp of flipping an entire political party in 4 ½ years. This is the first time something like this has been accomplished in at least a hundred years. Even Ron Paul couldn't do it. We are about to do it.
So don't give up. Each one of you is helping to make history and when it comes down to conventions and votes, you may be the one who makes the ultimate difference.
So thank you guys for working so hard. I want to see each and every one of you in Reno.
Also, I didn't realize how many people would be here, but I did bring a small Christmas gift bag for the LPMC MA members. It has ... some kava tea, because dealing with this shit is stressful ... a candle, because the LPMA stinks ... some soap, because you have a mess to clean up ... and some brownies, because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to sneak a bunch of weed on the plane - no, because you need to be sweet to each other. Thank you guys!
